Hardware for Photography: Photography is pretty versatile, even in the digital world. For a long time I only had my small 4 Megapixel Canon camera for photography, and while it was excellent for what I needed it for at the time, I quickly out grew it's capabilities. Before I bought the Digital SLR I needed something else in Photography to explore, and I figured Infrared Light was an interesting place to start. Modifying a digital camera to do infrared photography involves removing a small infrared filter between the lens and CCD (digital "film"), and replacing it with a clear piece of glass or plastic that's the same width as the infrared filter (to keep everything in focus). To block out regular light, you need to get an Infrared filter, which doesn't come in very small sizes, thus the huge filter infront of the miniature camera. Samsung Digimax 202 (2 Megapixels, modified to do Infrared Photography [Picture]) Canon Powershot S410 (4 Megapixels, this camera died, RIP) Canon Powershot SD790 IS (10 Megapixels) Canon Digital Rebel XT (8 Megapixels, SLR, yayy!) Software for Photography: Photoshop 5 (the only thing you need, really) Hardware for Music: The main idea behind having a laptop for music is two fold. One, I like to be able to take my "studio" with me anywhere... The controller, and keyboard both fit into my (pretty large) bag that I can take anywhere in the city. When I want to record someone else, instead of bringing them to my house I can simply go to wherever they want to record, which makes things a lot easier. The second reason for having a laptop, is for live shows. Laptop music has been around for a few years now, so it'll be interesting to be involved in something that hasn't been around for that long. Also, the Palm Pilot goes into the whole "portable studio" idea as well, I use Sequencing Software on the Palm Pilot to create melodies, and even entire songs if I want to. Laptop Palm Tungsten T5 with a 1GB SD card for space (out of commission) Korg MS2000B (4 voice polyphony analog modeling synthesizer) Kurzweil K2000 (a pretty good sampling synth for Piano, etc) Alesis Micron (8 voice polyphony analog modeling synthesizer) Software for Music: Ableton Live (live music) Reaktor 5 (virtual instruments, live music) Cool Edit Pro (multi-track recording software) Bhajis Loops (Palm OS sequencer) Microbe (Palm OS live music) And some pointless random stuff that no one should be interested in: Favourite Instrument: Pipe Organ (Grand Piano in a close second) Favourite Composer: Mozart and Bartok tied Recommended Pieces: Solo Piano Pieces by Mozart, Bartok's Miraculous Mandarin, Bach's Organ Pieces, Erik Satie's Piano Pieces. Favourite Painter: Salvador Dali | |||
